Federal Immigration Experience That Makes a Difference

Before entering private practice, Mr. Colby served as Assistant Chief Counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Atlanta and Houston.

During more than six years with the agency, he litigated immigration cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, including removal proceedings, bond hearings, detained cases, and other matters arising in immigration court.

Today, he brings that firsthand experience to private practice, helping clients understand their options, prepare carefully, and pursue lawful immigration objectives with purposeful advocacy.

How We Can Help

Family & Relationship Based Immigration

Helping individuals and families pursue lawful immigration pathways based on qualifying family relationships, with careful preparation and thoughtful guidance throughout the process.

Criminal Charges & Immigration Consequences

Criminal charges, arrests, and convictions can have significant immigration consequences, including effects on detention and bond, admissibility, removability, adjustment of status, and eligibility for relief from removal.

Immigration Detention, Bond & Removal Defense

Representation and legal guidance for individuals facing ICE detention, immigration bond proceedings, Notices to Appear, and removal proceedings before the Immigration Court.

Citizenship & Naturalization

Guidance and representation for individuals navigating the path to U.S. citizenship, including naturalization, citizenship acquisition or derivation, and related applications and proceedings, with careful attention to eligibility and potential complications.

When a Family Member or Friend Is Detained

Immigration detention can raise immediate questions about bond eligibility, mandatory detention, parole, and the effect of pending criminal charges or prior immigration history. In some cases, release may be available through the Immigration Court or DHS; in others, the law may significantly limit the available custody options.

An early review of the person’s immigration history, manner of entry, criminal history, and DHS custody status can help determine what options are actually available before pursuing a particular course of action.

Additional Immigration Experience

Certain immigration matters require individualized analysis and may not fit neatly into a standard category. Mr. Colby also considers select matters involving immigration status, employer-related immigration needs, and other federal immigration issues on a case-by-case basis.

Other Immigration Matters

If your immigration matter does not fall within one of the areas described above, the Law Office of Hayden Colby, PLLC may be able to assist or help identify the appropriate next step.
